Founder and President
Joseph is an attorney who counsels clients in the publishing and music industries. Joseph is also the founder of the literary agency, Perry Literary, Inc. He currently works as an Associate Editor at Thomson Reuters and a Consultant for SoundHouse LLC, a company that acquires the digital music streaming royalties for musicians and labels. Prior to founding The Law Offices of Joseph J. Perry P.C., Joseph worked as a legal analyst at Sony Music Entertainment. He received his juris doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in 2015, where he was an Articles Editor for the St. John’s Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Journal.
During law school, Joseph interned in the legal departments at Hachette Book Group; Rodale, Inc.; and William Morris Endeavor, and the subsidiary rights department at Columbia University Press. In addition, he published several articles about intellectual property law, such as his note entitled “21st Century New Use Technology in the Book Publishing Industry and How Authors Can Better Protect their New Use Technology Rights” in the University of Virginia School of Law’s Virginia Journal of Law and Technology and several articles in the New York State Bar Association’s Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Journal. Before law school, Joseph attended the 2010 NYU Summer Publishing Institute, where he first developed his interest in book and magazine publishing. Joseph holds a BA and MA in English from St. Bonaventure University.
